The big trend of 2010? Goth. And the good news is you don't have to listen to Marilyn Manson to pull it off. (it does help of course) Black and deep plum lipsticks were all over the runway at fashion week, spotted at both the Catherine Holstein and Rachel Roy shows, this dark and probably hard-to-pull-off look is reminiscent of both Marlene Dietrich and Siouxsie Sioux. Black has always been in, and as of this year lace has become the it trend of the decade, but only until now have designers took inspiration from the subcultures and adopted their look and made it a definite fashion trend. Lancome’s new artistic director for makeup, Aaron de May, has created a limited set edition that’s scheduled to launch in November. The set, which is inspired by a pair of Louboutins includes a red lipstick (Pita Red) and a sparkling lip gloss in Black (Piha Black). You can wear the products separately or slick the lipgloss on over the lipstick to achieve a multi-dimensional dark lip.
Personally, if black is a bit too Avril Lavigne for you, you can opt for a plum or violet shade such as Revlon in 'Va Va Violet' .
It's fast becoming a personal favourite as opposed to my usual statement red and I don't think it'll be long till i'll be choosing black in the day too! Winona Ryder.. Beetle Juice era, such a fashion inspiration.. rock n roll with a goth twist, im into it.
